The air is warm, a soft breeze touches our skin... Sitting on the balcony, over-looking the ocean, just a quiet moment, no words but utterly in love and deeply content. Tapas are waiting over lunch, maybe a nice bottle of wine and then tipsy like squirrels up the mountain to our lair again...
Released from the burdens of maintaining a large garden, a house, the problems and workload of a small paradise are left behind. Focus shifts to enjoying the Indian summer of their life, rather than preparing for it, or surviving it. Happy in the knowledge that there is finally room and a desire to just focus on being happy together, without worries, duties or even the daily chores...
Love and happiness thrive, and even with the occasional pang in the heart of having family spread wide and far, and not always as close as they would want, the small little place in the world down South, and the life it entails puts a permanent smile on their face.
Marriage is not something you think about, something you work on.. Marriage is now second nature, your "mate" as normal and necessary as the air you breathe,... you make love without making love, you converse without words, you feel each other in every gesture, and mostly smile at things around you, because it all feels familiar and you know... things will be all right.
In the evening, you settle down, you lightly touch (you can't have the skin fall off), and lingering in your heart is the quiet satisfaction that you are, after all, married to the most glorious person on earth.... And, then you touch again....
Who knows, things might happen at night.
